Fair Play Support Specialist

Chess.com is the #1 place on the internet to play chess and improve your game.  We have members in 195 countries and appear in 70+ languages.  We are looking for a Fair Play Support Specialist to join and help keep chess fair for our 70+ million members.  In this role you will use a blend of analysis, pattern recognition, and customer service skills to uphold the integrity of the game.

About You

You love to solve problems, see patterns where others don’t, and aren’t afraid of volumes of data. You have experience in customer service, particularly in written communication, and try to find a positive resolution for all even in difficult situations.  You are humble with a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously.  You may have been working in or dreamed of working in the gaming industry and are ready to turn your talents towards chess!

What you’ll do

  • Detect game manipulation in current and future live chess events, such as tournaments

  • Verify player IDs against FIDE records

  • Assist the Fair Play team in generating and screening fair play reports

  • Assist the core Support team with abuse moderation efforts

  • Work with both Fair Play and Support on anti-sandbagging efforts

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in front-line or escalated customer service roles

  • Excellent written customer service skills

  • Experience working on anti-cheat or fair play programs is a bonus

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills working in a fully distributed team

  • Sense of ownership and responsibility

  • Chess player

  • Lifelong learner

About the Opportunity

  • This is a contract or full-time equivalent position
